Kathie Klingensmith brings over two decades of dedicated experience in speech-language pathology and clinical leadership to the Caliber Autism team. She directly delivers and oversees speech-language services while collaborating closely with behavior-based programs to ensure every child receives comprehensive, holistic, and evidence-based care.
Kathie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan and her Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Wayne State University. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Michigan.
Throughout her distinguished career, Kathie has specialized in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and complex communication needs. Her expertise spans early intervention, multidisciplinary diagnostics, and family-centered coaching. Notably, she is a former certified PLAY Project Consultant and has extensive experience in establishing and leading home-based interventions that foster social reciprocity and parent empowerment.
As a passionate advocate for functional communication, Kathie has a rich background in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She has a proven track record of equipping therapy centers with AAC solutions and training multidisciplinary teams—including Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and ABA technicians—to model and integrate these vital tools seamlessly into daily routines.
Local Roots: Kathie is a long-time Michigander who has lived in the state for most of her life.
Family Life: She is happily married and the proud mom of two teenage daughters.
Leisure: When She isn't supporting families and mentoring Clinical teams, Kathie loves getting lost in a good book and exploring new destinations through travel.
